People Who Think Different Ain't Crazy

Thinking differently may open up new opportunities, as well as challenges. We sometimes think outside the box and operate training differently than what have been held in the past.

Keynote Speakers

There were concepts that had developed in my mind from exposures to all the activities at the conference...

Why not use blended learning that parallels the universities' method? We can take advantage of the existing technology we currently have. We have Aglearn for documentation; NEDC web site for educational collaboration, Adobe Connect, and telephone for live communication between students and instructors. We can try Hybrid NEDC training.

We can announce quarterly or semi-annual training schedules similar to how the universities do--on line. Schedules will be contingent and adjusted based upon students and instructors availability--normally no travel cost. Blended training using variety of resources will continue to incorporate field applications and hands-on training to some courses.

We can design and prototype initial hybrid blended learning using various technological resources. When succesful, we can work on other courses. If it fails, we can find solution, then continue to move forward.

Action register will include having NEDC website to view course schedule, and Aglearn to register for courses. Instructors & students commitment. Collaboration courses should be completed in 1 to 3 months.

Communication will need to be established between NEDC, states' training officers, and other stakeholders regarding the plan to avoid anxiety and resistance to change.

The conference sessions made me think for analogies between the session presentations and to how we can use them to conduct training business for our students/employees. Money is scarce, but training is a necessity; how can we move forward with training pursuit without large funding? We don't need crazy people, but one who may think differently.

Any Questions?
